Sunday 27th December Day Online Service

We all love and enjoy classic Christmas carols. But there are some other amazing Christmas songs and videos that you have probably never heard before. This online service has several of these for you. If you just want to sing more of the classics then, at the bottom of the page, you will find links to compilations of lyric videos for Christmas carols. While the videos before will (mostly) be new to you, enjoy the creative ways in which Christians have used their gifts to help us grow deeper in wonder, love and praise.

call to worship

All God’s people—
Boys and girls, women, men:
Come and worship!

Shepherds, Wise Men, saints, and angels:
Come and worship! Come and worship!

All who need the Saviour, all who long for comfort:
Come and worship,
come and worship Christ, the newborn King!

confession of sin

The sun of righteousness has dawned with healing in his wings.
Let us come to the light of Christ, confessing our sins in penitence and faith.

You were born for our salvation:
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

You came as Saviour to bring wholeness and peace:
Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.

You came to bring light into the darkness of our lives:
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

May God who loved the world so much, that he sent his Son to be our Saviour
forgive us our sins and make us holy to serve him in the world,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Collect For Sunday after Christmas

Almighty God,
who wonderfully created us in your own image
and yet more wonderfully restored us
through your Son Jesus Christ:
grant that, as he came to share in our humanity,
so we may share the life of his divinity;
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The following video turns the words of John 1:1-5 into epic, cinematic music.

Church Society have produced a number of Advent and Christmas sermons for use in churches where the Vicar is having a rest! The following sermon is from their Director, Rev Dr Lee Gatiss.

Statement of Faith

Do you believe and trust in God the Father,
source of all being and life, the one for whom we exist?
We believe and trust in him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Son,
who took our human nature, died for us and rose again?
We believe and trust in him.

Do you believe and trust in God the Holy Spirit,
who gives life to the people of God and makes Christ known in the world?
We believe and trust in him.

This is the faith of the Church.
This is our faith.
We believe and trust in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Amen.

The following piece of Spoken Word (featuring John Roberts’ niece and God-daughter!) is brilliant.

Jesus is the Word made flesh in our midst.
May his incarnation fill your hearts with joy and peace.
O Lord, give us peace.

Jesus is the promised Saviour, born of Mary.
May his birth among us renew your hope.
O Lord, give us hope.

Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
May the gift of his presence bring forth rejoicing.
O Lord, give us joy.

Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
bless you now and forever. Amen.

Go in peace. Proclaim the Word made flesh.
Glory, thanks and praise to God. Amen.

Sunday services in the church building will resume at 10am on 3rd January 2021, assuming that government guidelines permit us to gather together.
